The Old Aoyama Villa
The villa of the former Aoyama clan, which prospered through the Pacific herring in the late 19th to early 20th century. All of the corridors, pillars and kamoi (a narrow piece of wood that passes over the sliding doors and around a whole Japanese room) are painted with Shunkei lacquer. The sliding doors contain works by prominent artists and writers from that time. MORE INFO
Nikka Whisky Factory
Nikka Whisky, one of Japan‘s top whisky makers, has its main distillery in Yoichi, the neighboring town of Otaru. The company was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, known as the father of Japanese whisky, who studied the art of whisky making in Scotland, the university of Glasgow. Yoichi factory produces rich, peaty and masculine malt whisky. Traditional distiller for direct heating distillation by natural coal will be found at the factory. MORE INFO

The conference banquet will be held on Wednesday, 28th June at 18:00 in Kessel Hall of “Sapporo Beer Garden”. Participants who join the Excursion are directly transferred to the Banquet site. Enjoy eating fresh lamb, traditional Genghis Khan and grilled vegetables as much as you like!

Accompanying Persons Program
During the conference, we would like to welcome all accompanying persons and invite them to special events affording an experience of Japanese culture (Kimono Dressing, Tea Ceremony, Japanese Calligraphy, Traditional Flower Arranging, etc.) and a walking tour in Sapporo. Further details (schedule, participation fee, etc.) will be announced later.
